FARGO, ND (KFGO) – Bismarck based wet plate photographer Shane Balkowitsch kept a promise he made during his last appearance on The Harris Happenings by completing a portrait of the late KFGO host.
Balkowitsch, who owns Nostalgic Glass Wet Plate Studio, appeared on Bob’s show on November 21st, just days before he was admitted to the hospital.
“We still have that promise of doing your portrait in my studio,” said Balkowitsch to Harris during the interview “let’s not let that slip by.”
“In Memoriam” was created with the traditional process with a digital photo of Harris. A wet plate of a computer monitor that displayed his portrait was used.
Balkowitsch will donate the original wet plate to the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
