ST. PAUL, MINN. – A 29-year-old Illinois man has been convicted of sex trafficking after four days of testimony in federal court.
The U-S Attorney’s Office had told the court Darnell Deshawn Stennis forced two women into prostitution in North Dakota and Minnesota. Bloomington police made the arrest in March 2019 after reports from a motel.
One of the women told officers Stennis had attacked her after she told him she didn’t want to continue the commercial sex work. She said he choked her, hit her head on a towel rack, and pushed her onto the toilet.
Police arrested Stennis after that.
