FARGO (KFGO) – The Fargo Police Department is adding a new way to report crimes.
The Desk Officer Reporting System, known as DORS, can be used for people to file lower priority crimes, giving more offices the ability to focus on high priority calls. The new system to file those complaints can be used on a web browser or an app and will work on any device from desktop computers to iPad.
Police Chief Dave Zibolski said this system is becoming a trend for law enforcement agencies across the country. He said it will help alleviate the department’s large call volume.
“We have a lot of calls coming in that either don’t have a law enforcement nexus at all (and) are low priority – although we recognize they’re important to the person who’s affected – but just don’t require the officer to physically be there,” Zibolski said.
Police are fine tuning the system now and plan to launch it on March 28th.
