TAPPEN, N.D. (KFGO) – A Twin Cities man was seriously injured when his motorcycle sideswiped a semi-truck trailer on I-94 six miles east of Tappen in central North Dakota Thursday morning.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the motorcycle, and semi-truck pulling a grain trailer were traveling east shortly after 9:15 a.m. The truck was passing the motorcycle when the driver of the motorcycle, 53-year-old Lee Wegener, swerved into one of the trailer’s tires.
Wegener lost control of the motorcycle which landed on its side and slid into the north ditch.
The Highway Patrol says Wegener suffered severe injuries and was taken by Medina Ambulance, and then Sanford Air to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck. He was not wearing a helmet.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
