LAKE CITY, Minn. – Nine people were rescued from Lake Pepin in southeastern Minnesota while ice fishing Sunday evening.
According to the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, six adults and three children got stranded on a sheet of ice on the natural occurring lake along the Mississippi River. Deputies said airboats were used to transport them safely to shore and no one was injured.
Officials went back out Monday to retrieve a snowmobile, ATVs, and fishing gear left on the ice sheet.
Sheriff’s officers said the incident is a reminder that ice conditions are dangerous on Lake Pepin.
