PINE ISLAND, Minn. – Authorities in southeastern Minnesota are investigating a deadly Memorial Day fire in rural Pine Island.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responding to a medical call found a person with severe burns outside the home.
Firefighters and paramedics treated him at the scene but could not save 30-year-old Jacob Byler of Pine Island. The medical examiner will determine Byler’s official cause of death.
The state fire marshal’s office is helping determine the cause of the fire.
