HASTINGS, Minn. – Bail is set at $2 million for a Burnsville man accused of stabbing his mother and dismembering her body last June.
Dakota County prosecutors are charging Troy Mitteness, 56, with the second-degree murder of 82-year-old Sandra Mitteness.
Investigators said her remains were found in large totes along the side of the road between Burnsville and Appleton, and a rest stop along Highway 7.
“The facts alleged in this case make it one of the most horrific and disturbing cases I’ve experienced in the course of my 34-year career,” County Attorney Kathy Keena said.
