FARGO (KFGO) – If you were thinking that last month was the warmest December ever for Fargo-Moorhead, you were right.
The National Weather Service said the average temperature was 31.5 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 25.9 degrees set in 1959.
The month will also go down as the warmest ever in Minnesota.
“The average temperature for December is going to be somewhere around 30 degrees. It might be a little more [or] less,” Minnesota state climatologist Kenny Blumenfeld said. “The old record was right around 25 degrees.”
Blumenfeld said the state also set a record for the wettest December with around 2.5 inches of rain. Fargo-Moorhead’s total of three inches of rain for the month broke the previous record of 2.28 inches established in 1927.
The highest temperature for December was 62 degrees on 7th, a new record high for the month.
