HITTERDAL, Minn. (KFGO) – A 44-year-old Hitterdal man was arrested Friday morning after leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit through a local cemetery before resisting arrest at his home.
Cody Jacobson was taken into custody following the 7:45 a.m. incident, according to Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting.
Deputies initially attempted to pull Jacobson over for speeding on 90th Avenue North near Hitterdal. Officials said Jacobson ignored emergency lights and sirens, continuing southbound on Highway 32.
During the chase, Jacobson drove his vehicle into a cemetery in Hitterdal, exited the property, and resumed driving south on Highway 32 before stopping at his residence just south of town.
When deputies and Minnesota State Patrol troopers arrived, Jacobson attempted to flee inside his house and resisted officers as they moved to detain him, the sheriff’s office said. Officers prevented him from entering the home and eventually secured him.
Jacobson sustained a minor head laceration during the arrest. A Clay County deputy and a state trooper also suffered minor injuries. All three were treated at a local hospital.
Jacobson was booked into the Clay County Correctional Facility on charges of felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, fourth-degree assault on a peace officer, gross misdemeanor obstructing legal process, and fourth-degree driving under the influence.
The Hawley Police Department assisted at the scene.
