BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Minnesota State University Moorhead senior Nadir Yusuf has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference’s Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, the league announced on Thursday.
Yusuf will compete in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships next Thursday at 6:55 p.m. Central time.
The Willmar, Minn., graduate had an outstanding weekend at the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Duluth last week. He won the 10,000 meters in 29:53.73, which was a new meet record by more than 27 seconds.
On Saturday, he picked up his second NSIC title of the weekend in the 5,000 meters, winning the event with a school and meet record time of 14:19.51. That is an NCAA provisional mark.
Yusuf, who graduated this spring, finished his career with five NSIC track titles.
