WINTHROP, MN (KFGO) — This Farm Talk Segment is brought to you by the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council. With the help of a website and a little creativity, one hog operation is getting their product not only to market, but directly to consumers. Heidie Haugo and her family raise hogs at Winthrop, Minnesota.
The family finishes about 6,000 hogs each year. Typically, those hogs are marketed to the restaurant sector. The family decided euthanizing wasn’t an option they wanted to experience, so they developed a website, which went viral. Haugo says they are blown away by the response from consumers.
