This is my first week back after vacation, and each time I run into a co-worker, their first question is, “how was vacation?” Words can’t describe how amazing our family trip to Minnesota’s North Shore was so I’ll tell it with pictures.

If you’re looking for wide open spaces to explore, then Minnesota’s North Shore might be what you’re looking for. My favorite part of the trip had to be Tettigouche State Park, which has absolutely beautiful views and enough steps to get a great workout in. We put on six miles that day climbing and hiking mountains of rock and forest and exploring waterfalls. Gooseberry Falls State Park was also great! If you head north, definitely do yourself a favor and travel further north than Duluth, to Silver Bay and Two Harbors too. We stayed for 3 nights but 2 days would be more than enough time to get a lot of exploring in. If you have more time, you may want to keep heading north to Grand Marais and the BWCA.
Crowding wasn’t a problem on our trip. We stayed in our own private cabin right along Lake Superior that we rented, complete with a full kitchen, grill and deck. If you want to do it on the cheap, there are a lot of campgrounds in that area too. And if you are in decent enough shape, go check out the zip-lines and obstacle course at North Shore Adventure Park. That was also a huge highlight of our trip.
