(KFGO/KNFL) It’s a three-peat for Kindred junior Avery Bartels, as she defended her State Class B Girls Golf title today in Minot.
Bartels fired a one-over 73 to win the title by six strokes over Grafton’s Ainsley McLain. After Bartels started her round with a bogey, she responded with a birdie on the following hole. Bogeys on holes five and eight were sandwiched by consecutive birdies on holes six and seven. She was even par on the front nine, +1 on the back nine.
Bartels won her first title in the spring of 2021, then followed that by defending her title last fall (Class B girls golf moved to the fall last year).
Oak Grove won its second team title with a two-day total of 713, one shot ahead of 2nd place Heart River. Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter placed 3rd at 716.
McLain was named the Senior Athlete of the Year, while Oak Grove Coach Laine Brantner was named Coach of the Year.
