In May of 2022, Joel Heitkamp, Abby Miller, & I went on an Honor Flight. This documentary follows us and the veterans of that trip.
I had the opportunity to interview Gil Rud, who was the former flight leader of the Blue Angels and grew up in Portland, ND.
This one is near and dear to my heart. It was one of my first stories after I started. Two World War 2 veterans at the end of their lives, sharing their stories one more time. Unfortunately, both men, Lyle & Roy passed away shortly after these interviews. I’m glad I was able to get their stories recorded. Additionally, Lyle shared with me some things he did and saw during the war that no one should have to ever go through. These men were one of a kind.
