To a point most people wish the Christmas/holiday season would sloooooow down. Have you met anyone wishing their was less time and more work, family, projects, activities? I haven’t.
While I enjoy the time with family & friends as I get older the less I enjoy the “noise” of Christmas. So why hasn’t it changed? I struggle to understand why hasn’t society pumped the breaks and defragged Christmas?
For most of the ills of the world I point to a broken mindset of (more) power and(more) money driving many choices and decisions being made. So is it work and business which combine to pressure the holiday parties, events and activities? In many situations I believe it is.
I know I don’t have the answers but I think if you are feeling less joy and more dread for the holiday’s do what you can to make the changes.
Say “yes” to the family and friends and opportunities to serve. I can’t tell you how often my heart is filled by serving rather than being served.
The heart of Christmas is not what others can do for you to make your world “better” it’s how and what you can do. Don’t believe me? Try it.
