(KFGO/KNFL) The matchups were announced Friday for Hockey Day 2024, hosted by Warroad. Games will be played January 25-27. It’s the 18th year of the celebration which celebrates hockey statewide in Minnesota, highlighted by some outdoor games.
Both Moorhead High and Concordia will play in the event. The Spuds will play Wayzata at 1 PM on January 27. Moorhead hosted Hockey Day Minnesota in 2011, and played Centennial in St. Cloud in 2018. Moorhead’s game will be the second of the day at the Warroad Athletic Complex. A girls’ game with Warroad and Lakeville North will start the day at 9:30 AM, and long-time rivals Roseau and Warroad will meet up in a boys’ matchup at 4:30 that day.
Concordia will face MIAC foe St. Olaf on January 26 at 7 PM. It will be Concordia’s first appearance at Hockey Day Minnesota. The MIAC was highlighted last season, when St. John’s played Augsburg at HDM 2023 in White Bear Lake.
Lake of the Woods and Kittson County Central will also face off outdoors in Warroad to start the festivities on January 25.
