ST. PAUL, Minn. – A new report from the Minnesota Department of Corrections finds fewer people released from state prisons are experiencing homelessness.
Commissioner Paul Schnell said that number went from 25% down to 19%, and that represents about 250 people who are being released to stable housing environments.
Schnell says having stable housing really helps with the transition from incarceration into Minnesota communities.
Nearly 4,600 people were released from state prisons last year.
