BISMARCK (KFGO) – Adults will still be required to wear a seat belt in North Dakota.
The house has rejected a bill that would’ve dropped the requirement that people 18 and older must use a seat belt. A house committee had earlier approved the change. The vote to keep the law was 66 to 28.
Some of those who supported the bill say it was in response to a proposal in the senate to make the state seat belt law a primary violation. Now, you have to be stopped for something else before you can be given a citation for not buckling up.
