CARPIO, N.D. (KFGO) – An 84-year-old man from Carpio, North Dakota is dead after being hit by a train.
The Highway Patrol says the train/pedestrian crash happened around 1 p.m. Sunday on Highway 52, approximately one-and-a-half miles northwest of Carpio.
A southbound Canadian Pacific Train operator observed a tractor near the tracks approximately ½ mile away. The operator sounded the horn. The operator then observed a man standing on the side of the tracks. The operator continued to sound the horn. The train struck the man, resulting in fatal injuries.
