Fargo City Auditor Steve Sprague
FARGO (KFGO KVRR) – A prominent official for the city of Fargo is calling it a career after over two decades in his position.
City Auditor Steve Sprague is retiring. Sprague began serving as auditor in December of 1999 and has seen population growth and technological advancement during his tenure. Sprague has played a key role in city elections over the years.
At this week’s liquor control board meeting, City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn thanked Sprague for his service. Sprague says that meant a lot to him, and he’s just thankful to have been a part of city government for just about 26 years.
“The stock we’re from, it’s always hard to take compliments,” said Sprague, “but just to have Dave say those things, it was very nice of him.”
He added, “I just really appreciate the opportunity the city of Fargo gave me to serve the public and the residents.”
Sprague and his wife will retire to a farmstead near Harvey, North Dakota His last day at city hall will be November 7.
