(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks would start a 3-game series in Franklin, Wisconsin, against the Milwaukee Milkmen tonight. This would be the final series of a 9-game road trip for the RedHawks. Fargo-Moorhead, entering tonight, was on a 3 game losing streak after being swept by Kansas City last night. They were hoping to get back into the win column.
Milwaukee put up 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st against RedHawks starting pitcher Kolby Kizer. The scoring started with an RBI single by Yordys Valdes, followed by a wild pitch with the bases loaded, and RBI groundout by Wendell Marrero, and Andy Blake.
It would be 4-0 Milkmen until Fargo-Moorhead’s Dillon Thomas provided an RBI groundout in the top of the 6th to make it 4-1.
In the top of the 7th, relief pitcher for Milwaukee, Mickey Scheetz, would commit a throwing error that would drive in Fargo-Moorhead’s 2nd run.
The RedHawks would trail 4-2 until the top of the 8th, where Jose Sermo drove in the 3rd run of the night on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3. But, despite a solid comeback effort, Fargo-Moorhead wouldn’t score in the top of the 9th, as the RedHawks fall 4-3 to Milwaukee.
Fargo-Moorhead has now lost 4 straight games, and are now 2-5 on the 9 game road trip.
Game 2 of the series is tomorrow evening with the pregame show at 5:40 PM on AM 740 The FAN KNFL Fargo/107.3 FM, 740thefan.com, and the 740 The FAN mobile app.
