MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO/Learfield) – Triple-A expects another busy Fourth of July travel period, with millions of Minnesotans joining the holiday getaway.
“(More than 72 million Americans are expected to travel during the holiday period. Here in the West North Central region, which includes Minnesota, we’re expecting about 5.1 million people to travel, with most of them hitting the road by car.” AAA Spokeswoman Brynna Knapp says.
Knapp adds that while they are up from this time last year, Gas prices have gone down.
“A year ago we were at 3.03, so sitting quite a bit higher, but the good news is we’ve seen prices drop even from a week; we’re nine cents lower. And a month ago we were at 4.17. So we’ve really seen pricing trickle back down” Knapp says.
Those travelling this weekend can expect crowded highways and should give themselves extra time to reach their destination.
