DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO-KDLM) – The 42nd annual Phelps Mill Festival returns to Phelps Mill County Park near Underwood on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, bringing more than 100 artists, live entertainment, family activities, and a new round of musical competition.
Festival Director Ken Martin says the event is 100 percent juried, meaning every artist is carefully selected. Shoppers can expect unique, handcrafted artwork, and Martin says more than 20 artists are new to the festival this year, giving visitors the opportunity to discover one-of-a-kind pieces.
One of this year’s featured attractions is the second annual Phelps Mill Sing-Off. Solo vocalists from across the region will compete for a one-thousand-dollar grand prize beginning at noon Sunday on the festival’s main stage.
Live music is also scheduled throughout the weekend, along with free art activities for children and families, a craft beer and wine tasting on Saturday, and food served by local nonprofit organizations, including area churches, the Lions Club, and the Boy Scouts.
Festival hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 12.
Admission is eight dollars for adults, children 12 and under are admitted free, and free parking with shuttle service will be available.
