(KNFL/KFGO) – Fargo-Moorhead would return to Newman Outdoor Field for game one of this series against the Lincoln Saltdogs. The RedHawks dropped this game by a score of 5-3 and drop down to 32-30. The RedHawks started right-hander Bryce Brassfield and Lincoln started right-hander Foster Pace.
In the first inning the Saltdogs got on the board first with a sacrifice fly from Connor Bagnieski to make it a 1-0 game.
Lincoln widened the gap in the second inning when centerfielder Cam Phelts hit a two RBI single to give the Saltdogs a 3-0 lead.
The RedHawks would get a couple back in the bottom of the second however, starting with an RBI single from Brian Fuentes. One batter later Aidan Byrne would hit a pop up behind first base that would drop in for a double with two outs, and would score Brian Fuentes.
In the third inning the RedHawks would go on to score another run with two outs thanks to a Tripp Clark RBI single that tied the game up at three.
Fargo-Moorhead would find themselves in a bit of trouble in the top of the fourth inning when Lincoln had two baserunners on with no outs. The Saltdogs hit a fielders choice that would put runners at the corners. And another fielders choice by Cam Phelts would bring in a run to make it 4-3.
Nick Shumpert added on an insurance run for the Saltdogs with an RBI double in the seventh, and the RedHawks bats could not bring in a run to shrink the gap any further.
The RedHawks starter Bryce Brassfield was credited with the loss after giving up 4 runs in 5.1 innings. Saltdogs starter Foster Pace would get the win after giving up 3 runs in 6.0 innings. Lincolns closer Zac McCleve picked up the save.
