Lisa Demuth
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – House Speaker and Republican Gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth announced this morning she’s filed to run in the Republican Primary for Governor.
She says her ticket is the only one with proven conservative leadership and the resources to defeat Amy Klobuchar.
“As I said at the outset of this campaign seven months ago, Minnesota is at a crossroads and desperately needs new leadership after two terms of Tim Walz,” Demuth said. “Since November, Ryan Wilson and I have traveled the state numerous times and visited with thousands of Minnesotans who are ready for new leadership. They want a governor who will end the culture of fraud and oppressively high taxes and who will make Minnesota affordable again.”
Demuth previously said she would drop out if she did not receive the party endorsement. Kendall Qualls is the Republican Party’s endorsed candidate for Governor. After voting issues at the party convention in Duluth last weekend, Demuth says she’s staying in the race to give all Minnesota Republicans a say in the nominee.
The primary election is August 11th.
