FARGO (KFGO) – Minnesota Lieutenant Governor and Democrat endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Peggy Flanagan says the state needs to move up it’s primary election. The primary election is August 11th, Flanagan says the turnaround to the November election can be difficult for candidates.
“I mean we have one of the latest primaries in the country, and frankly, I don’t think it serves anybody,” Flanagan said. “I think it should be much earlier, so that, you know, we don’t have to get to the end here and scramble.”
Flanagan is running against Congresswoman Angie Craig for the U.S. Senate seat of Tina Smith, who is retiring. Craig made the decision to skip the party endorsement process and take the race straight to the primary election.
Flanagan made her comments on KFGO News and Views with Joel Heitkamp.
