FARGO (KVRR/KFGO) — Fargo Police are warning people about a phone scam.
They say someone with a southern accent is falsely claiming to the Chief Travis Stefonowicz.
The scammer then tells the caller that the Department was working with Homeland Security on a felony drug trafficking investigation involving the purchase and delivery of hydrochloric acid.
The caller ID shows it’s coming Fargo Police’s main phone number.
Police remind you not provide personal, financial or banking information.
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and call the agency back to confirm if the call is legitimate.
