RUGBY, N.D. (KFGO) – A Rugby man is facing 10 criminal charges for his alleged involvement in a series of burglaries and thefts across the state.
Zachariah Grotberg is accused of stealing thousands of dollars in power tools, a motorcycle, catalytic converters and an antique anvil from properties in Pierce County as well as the Williston area. Kerri Tessman is also facing charges in connection to the thefts in Pierce County.
Deputies began investigating last month after a rural Pierce County resident that lives nearby reported that their motorcycle had been stolen out of their garage. Thefts were also reported at other properties nearby throughout July.
Court documents say deputies watched trail camera footage from the properties and identified multiple vehicles that were involved in the thefts. The vehicles were found at the property owned by Grotberg and Tessman, along with many of the reported stolen items.
Deputies say they found tools that were reported stolen in the Williston area as far back as 2024. Court documents say the stolen motorcycle had been stripped and was lying around the property in parts.
Grotberg faces charges of operating a chop shop, burglary, theft, trespassing, criminal conspiracy and criminal mischief. Tessman could be charged with criminal conspiracy.
