Dylan Cease took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, and the visiting Toronto Blue Jays recorded a 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees on Saturday afternoon.
Cease (8-5) carried a no-hit bid for 6 2/3 innings until Jazz Chisholm Jr. singled to right field. He then allowed an RBI single to Austin Wells for New York’s first run. George Springer, rookie Charles McAdoo and pinch hitter Nathan Lukes hit RBI singles for the Blue Jays, who totaled 15 hits and won for the eighth time in 12 games.
Tyler Rogers allowed a two-run homer to Luis Garcia Jr. in the eighth before striking out rookie George Lombard Jr. to end the inning. Louie Varland yielded a leadoff double to Chisholm in the ninth before striking out Trent Grisham to secure his 29th save.
New York lost starter Ryan Weathers (5-8) to left forearm discomfort. Weathers exited after throwing a pitch to Myles Straw in the fourth and the Yankees said he was undergoing further imaging. Weathers allowed two runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings. The Yankees had a five-game winning streak stopped and lost for just the fifth time in their past 14 games.
Reds 11, Diamondbacks 5
JJ Bleday hit for the cycle and drove in three runs, Elly De La Cruz had four hits and was a triple short of the cycle, and Cincinnati evened the weekend series with a victory over Arizona in Phoenix.
Bleday’s cycle was the eighth in Reds history, the first since De La Cruz did it in June 2023 in his 15th major league game. De La Cruz struck out in the eighth when the Reds had a chance for a pair of teammates to have cycles in the same game for the first time in major league history. Reds starter Rhett Lowder (5-8) gave up six hits and four runs (three earned) in six innings.
Tim Tawa had two hits, including his career-high eighth homer, and Nolan Arenado also homered for the Diamondbacks. Arizona starter Michael Soroka (8-4) gave up six hits and six runs before leaving with one out in the fourth.

Los Angeles’ Zach Neto was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and two runs scored. Cody Freeman recorded the Rangers’ lone hit to open the sixth inning. Cody Bradford (0-2) scattered seven hits and allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings.
Mariners 5, Cubs 4
Randy Arozarena hit two home runs — including a walk-off two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning — and robbed another as Seattle rallied for a victory against visiting Chicago.
Arozarena led off the bottom of the first and ended the bottom of the ninth with homers, and leaped at the wall to bring back what would’ve been a solo shot from the Cubs’ Miguel Amaya in the third. Arozarena’s heroics prevented prized prospect Kade Anderson from taking a loss in his major league debut. The No. 3 overall pick in last year’s draft went 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on five hits.
Alex Bregman and Michael Busch hit back-to-back homers in the sixth to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead and end Anderson’s debut. Chicago left-hander David Peterson gave up two runs on four hits in his return to the rotation.

Jake Bauers blasted a two-run homer to cap a three-run third inning for Milwaukee in its win against visiting Atlanta to clinch the series between division leaders.
Brewers starter Logan Henderson (8-2) allowed one run and five hits over six innings in the second game of the three-game series. William Contreras contributed two hits, drove in a run and scored once for Milwaukee, which has won six of seven to maintain the best record in MLB (81-49).
Braves left-hander Martin Perez (8-8) was victimized by his own fielding error in the third, which led to three unearned runs. He gave up one earned run and four hits over four innings. Michael Harris II had two hits and an RBI for Atlanta, which has lost five of six.
Marlins 4, Nationals 2
Heriberto Hernandez slugged his team-leading 19th homer, and Eury Perez continued his stellar pitching as host Miami continued its dominance of Washington.
Jakob Marsee also homered for the Marlins, who are 7-1 against the Nationals this season and will try for a three-game sweep on Sunday. Perez (7-9) allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) in five innings.
Washington, playing without three of its top offensive players, scored its two runs on a Miami error and Dylan Crews’ RBI double. Jake Irvin (2-8) took the loss, allowing six hits and four runs in six innings while losing his four straight decision.
Phillies 12, Cardinals 3
Andrew Painter pitched a career-high seven innings and Bryce Harper hit a three-run homer to fuel Philadelphia to its eighth straight win, a rout of visiting St. Louis.
Painter (3-8), who has struggled for most of his rookie season, allowed one run and five hits without a walk, striking out eight. While Harper provided the big blast, the Phillies also received two RBIs apiece from Edmundo Sosa, Bryan De La Cruz and Kyle Schwarber, who hit his major league-leading 38th home run.
J.J. Wetherholt’s 17th home run was one of the few highlights for the Cardinals. Quinn Mathews (0-2) was charged with seven runs and 10 hits in five innings for St. Louis, which needs to win Sunday to avoid a sweep and falling back to .500 on the season.
Orioles 3, Rays 2 (10 innings)
Pinch hitter Dylan Beavers doubled in the winning run as Baltimore beat visiting Tampa Bay to clinch the weekend series.
Samuel Basallo drilled a two-run homer with one out in the eighth inning to pull the Orioles even at 2-2 and Baltimore’s relievers were stout after Brandon Young allowed two runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings. Liam Hicks homered for the American League-best Rays, who are 2-7 across their last nine games. Bryan Baker (1-2) took the loss, facing just one batter in the bottom of the 10th. Shane McClanahan threw five shutout innings in his second game since coming off the injury list.
Mets 10, White Sox 5
Luis Robert Jr. haunted his former team by hitting two homers as visiting New York outlasted Chicago in the middle game of a three-game interleague series.
Robert, who played his first six seasons with the White Sox before being traded to the Mets on Jan. 20, homered off Luis Castillo (4-10) in the third and Huascar Brazoban in the seventh. Bo Bichette, Carson Benge and Luis Torrens also homered for New York, which improved to 12-5 since the trade deadline.
Braden Montgomery and Tristan Peters homered for the White Sox, who dropped to 8-10 since the deadline. Austin Warren (2-3), the third of five Mets pitchers, was credited with the win after he tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
Guardians 4, Rockies 3
Jo Adell homered and singled, backing six solid innings from Tanner Bibee, and Cleveland beat Colorado in Denver.
Jose Ramirez singled to move into fifth place on the franchise’s hits list with 1,752, according to the team. Cleveland’s victory, coupled with a loss by Texas on Saturday night, puts the Guardians into a tie with the Rangers for the third and final American League wild-card berth. The Guardians have won three in a row. Bibee (5-13) allowed two runs on five hits.
Mickey Moniak homered, Jake McCarthy and Troy Johnston had two hits each and rookie right-hander Gabriel Hughes (0-5) remained without a big-league victory in nine appearances (eight starts) for Colorado. The Rockies have lost five in a row and eight straight at home.
Padres 7, Twins 5
Ty France’s RBI single capped a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning that helped San Diego rally for a win over visiting Minnesota.
The rally started with the Padres down 5-2. Griffin Canning (4-9) pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the win and Mason Miller locked down the ninth for his 32nd save in 33 chances. Starter Casey Mize lasted only 2 2/3 innings before leaving with a right ankle injury. He allowed four hits and four runs.
Minnesota starter Dean Kremer lasted 5 1/3 innings, permitting three hits and two runs. Jackson Merrill got San Diego on the board in the bottom of the second with his 20th homer.
Dodgers 4, Pirates 3
Kyle Tucker hit a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning, Tarik Skubal had 11 strikeouts over seven innings and Los Angeles rallied for a victory over visiting Pittsburgh.
Teoscar Hernandez and Alek Thomas each had RBI singles for the Dodgers, who extended their winning streak to five games for their longest run since a six-game streak in May. Skubal (8-7) gave up all three of his runs allowed in the first inning before recovering to earn his first win in four starts since joining the Dodgers from the Detroit Tigers just before the trade deadline.
Oneil Cruz had a two-run triple and Los Angeles-area native Jared Jones gave up two runs on three hits over four innings as the Pirates fell to 0-2 at the start of a nine-game road trip.
Royals 3, Tigers 1
Michael Wacha allowed one run over seven strong innings, Kyle Isbel and Salvador Perez each hit a solo homer and host Kansas City extended its season-high winning streak to seven games with a victory over struggling Detroit.
Wacha (7-8) yielded only a home run to Hao-Yu Lee and two other hits. Alex Lange pitched a perfect eighth inning and Craig Kimbrel overcame a two-out walk and a balk in the ninth to record his first save since 2024 for the Royals, who are 6-0 on a seven-game homestand. Isbel homered in a second straight game for Kansas City, which has hit five solo home runs in the first two games of this series.
Drew Anderson (4-5) was charged with three runs, while also allowing all five of the Royals’ hits, in five-plus innings for the Tigers, who lost their fourth straight and seventh in the last eight games.
Athletics 4, Astros 3
Lawrence Butler laced a run-scoring single that highlighted a three-run eighth inning and helped carry the visiting Athletics to a victory over Houston.
The Athletics snapped a five-game skid by answering the Astros’ two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jeff McNeil ignited the comeback with a leadoff single against Astros reliever Bennett Sousa (1-2), who then walked Zack Gelof to put the tying run on base. Jacob Lopez recorded his sixth consecutive start of at least five innings with two or fewer runs allowed.
Astros starter Hunter Brown allowed seven hits over 5 2/3 innings. He induced three double plays to navigate the traffic.
Red Sox 3, Giants 2
Eli White slid home with the winning run on Wilyer Abreu’s fielder’s choice, as host Boston erased a 2-0, ninth-inning deficit and walked off with a win over San Francisco.
With the bases loaded, Giants first baseman Bryce Eldridge made a great diving stop on Abreu’s low liner, but his throw pulled catcher Andrew Knizner’s foot off home plate as he tried to complete the force play.
White broke San Francisco’s shutout bid with a one-out single up the middle off Sam Hentges (1-6), scoring Caleb Durbin, who went 2-for-3 before drawing a leadoff walk that sparked the game-turning rally. Nick Sogard followed immediately with a game-tying double to left. Wyatt Olds (1-0) recorded four outs to nab his first career victory in his third contest.
