(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks would play their penultimate regular season home game of the season Wednesday night against the Winnipeg Goldeyes, as they would look to avoid a series loss along with a four-game losing streak entering the night. The RedHawks would go with Kyle Crigger on the mound, opposed by Kevin Vaupel of Winnipeg.
After two scoreless innings, Winnipeg would strike first in the top of the third, as Ramon Bramasco hit an RBI single.
After a Ray-Patrick Didder triple to start the fourth inning, Noah Marcelo would drive him home on an RBI single. With a runner on second base in the top of the fifth, Ramon Bramasco would reach on a fielder’s choice in the top of the fifth resulting from a throwing error by Aiden Byrne, allowing a run to score. That made it a 3-0 lead.
With runners on second and third base in the bottom of the fifth, Jose Sermo drove in two runs on an RBI single to make it a one run contest.
Winnipeg would add to their 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth on a two-run double by Jiandido Tromp. Noah Marcelo would add one more run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth, as Winnipeg would secure a series victory thanks to a 6-2 victory Wednesday night.
With their win, Winnipeg also clinches a playoff berth, moving to 53-42 on the season. Fargo-Moorhead, has lost five straight games, and have dropped to 49-46 on the year.
The winning pitcher was Kevin Vaupel of the Goldeyes, as he threw five full innings, while giving up two earned runs. Winnipeg’s bullpen combined for four shutout innings, as they only allowed one hit through those four innings. Sage Ferguson would get the save for the Goldeyes. Kyle Crigger of Fargo-Moorhead was the losing pitcher. Crigger went six innings, while giving up two earned runs, and striking out eight batters.
The RedHawks will look to snap their losing streak, as well as avoid a series sweep against Winnipeg Thursday evening.
