Search conducted in connection to 1982 disappearance of toddler

BEMIDJI, Minn. (KFGO) – The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve searched a property in the Sugarbush township north-east of Bemidji after they received new information connected a 1982 cold case.

Deputies say Kevin Ayotte was three years old when he disappeared 44 years ago.

Investigators say no determination has been made and they’ll release more detail when it won’t compromise the investigation. The search was done carefully to protect any possible evidence. Investigators are still evaluating information and conducting follow up work.

The Sheriff’s Office says they’re committed to finding answers about Ayotte’s disappearance.
